OK. Modem only box. Nothing to get in the way of the router.
The "gateway" you listed is probably what the local network tells you. A better question is to ask for the "make and model number of the modem/gateway/Optical Network Terminator (ONT)". In that context a gateway is usually a device that combines a modem and a voice line. It can also include a router, which is where the complication starts.
