Did you try using WPS to set up something? It doesn't usually kick in uninvited.
Thinking that it was still installing some firmware update, I let it set overnight.
You already have the latest firmware, so it should not need to update itself. There can be times when firmware is damaged but not beyond use. In those cases, you could try manually updating the firmware again, just to rule that out.
