Why are you using crappy apps? You don't need Genie to manage your router. Use its Web UI at http://192.168.1.1

The desktop Netgear genie is not a "crappy app", unlike those designed for mobile devices. It has some valuable features that are a pain to deal with in the browser graphical user interface.
Why not give it another try? Sadly, Netgear is making it hard to find.
This still works, but may not by the time you get there.
