AC4000P Connecting two together
Can anyone give me a step by step to connect two Nighhawk AC4000P Routers together?
Not sure the best way to put certain wired and wireless devices on the second router. Should they be on two different Network and named separately? Do both routers have to be reset to their default factory settings before setting this up?
Thanks much!

Additional information is required in order to provide a good answer to your question.
What is the model number of your router? AC4000P is not a Netgear model number. Look on the label on the back of your device after the word Model. Could possibly start with the letter R.
What is the brand name and model number of the modem/gateway/ONT that is connected upstream between your router and the internet? Look on the label on the back of the device.
What is the firmware version number presently installed on your router? "The Latest" is not a version number.
Are these two routers new or have they been previously set up and configured?

The simplest configuration is to set your second router as an access point. That is accomplished from the user interface.
From a physical standpoint, you would need an Ethernet cable to connect from the output of router one to the input of router two. It is best to have the two routers separated by at least a meter or two distance.
Router one would handle all of your routing functions and network configuration. Router two would broadcast Wi-Fi using your choice of SSID and the Ethernet ports would be active.
At the top of this page there is a Downloads section. Go to that page then click on Support at the top. Put in your router model number and download the user manual. Go to page 61 for details on configuring a router as an access point. Be certain you are configuring the second router. You do this by connecting an Ethernet cord directly to the second router from your computer.
