Access a AP configured router using Nighthawk? (R6400, R6700v3)
I have a router (R6400) set up to work with a second router (R6700v3) configured as an AP. Nighthawk software sees the AP as an attached device but I can't figure out how to use the Nighthawk applica...

Ok. That's what I figured...it would just be nice to do a quick check using the app vs logging in with the IP (which I do all the time). Thx for confirming...

You can connect to the AP Mode router using it's IP address and access it's web page there using a web browser on a PC or laptop.
It's really sad that - after all the years since the Nighthawk App was re-born out of the old router discovery utility - that neither the Nighthawk App nor the router Connected Devices does allow to open the matching App (say other Netgear Apps) or simply the Web-Browser to access attached devices like access points, Nighthawk Routers in AP Mode, Nightawk Gaming Switches, printers and many more with an IP address... (same applies to the Orbi App, too). Every average brand router and Mesh system has this feature for decades.

Ya, seems like the mobile apps are more limited to certain things. Not sure why. Possible NG found problems or couldn't make it work right or did and caused other problems. I know for AP mode, there really isn't much need to check on something while in AP mode since theres not much going on in this mode. Maybe one reason why they don't support AP mode in apps. I know I ran into this when I had my Orbi in system in AP mode connected to my XR450 gaming router, Orbi app wouldn't connect. Vice versa as well. Maybe NG is trying to keep things simplistic from there perspective. Who knows. It's there ball games. Were players with out the gameplay info. :smileyfrustrated:

I don't expect that much like whatever App support. Plain minimum would be the "click" ability to call a Web browser with the connected device LAN IP. A has it, Z has it, Fritz has it. Netgear routers are stuck on specs from late 1990. This includes Nighthawk routers, Nightawh Mesh, Orbi, Orbi Pro, ...

Yep...always seems like it games some mfrs kicking and screaming into the future.
Also there is some development and cost considerations as well, if old stuff still works, why move to something new. Lets just build upon what being used. Why Genie took so long to be put to rest. It worked however NG made the change to the NH app...They stopped using it a couple of years ago for Orbi since Orbi app what put forth.

Well, the bespoken proposal isn't in place on the Orbi App or on the Orbi Connected Devices List. No way to click and open a Web browse on the IP address. Welcome to Netgear's consumer garbage ice age.

I does seem pretty lame. From a programming perspective everything is there to talk with and decode the AP router. It's simply laziness or some bean counter denying the funds to do the minimal work. Or, marketing is saying not many of their customer base use AP mode so it's not worth investing the resources.
That's a chicken and egg problem though. One wonders how many more people or small business would buy and set up router based APs if Netgear had a decent interface for their mobile app. Having to manually log in using the web interface is a real PITA for some kinds of things. Think like a consumer company and that's what you'll get. I suppose an alternate view is to drive users to more expensive equipment and paid services...
I have 4 routers in my set up, one configured as a router and 3 as APs (don't ask). I'm using two TP-Link routers in AP mode to test their functionality and if it goes well, then maybe I just switch. Way to go Netgear...
