Cripes. That's seriously old. 2013.
According to the specifications, it is DOCSIS 3.0 standard. Newer devices are 3.1, but there's no point in having that unless your ISP demands, and supports, it.
At least it has a Gigabit Ethernet port. Not all devices of that generation are that fast.
Still, it does rule out the dreaded "double NAT" affliction. Plain modem. No router.
Sadly, the WNR3500Lv2 is also old. 2011. No 5 GHz wifi. (Again, though, it does have Gigabit Ethernet.) But you should get better speeds than you see.
If your trouble started after you applied the latest firmware, you could always install on older version.

I figured if it was time to get a new modem and router. But my internet was fine until I updated my router to the current firmware. Then my wifi went to complete crap.
I think if I install the older firmware I should be okay.
