APPLETV 4K can’t connect to internet via r7000p router

I have a R7000p router. It works great with all of my devices including iPhone 11 & iPad Pro. I purchased an APPLE TV 4K streaming device. Going through the installation it was  unable to connect to the internet. It gets into the router (my password Is good) but can't connect. I've i turned off 'smart connnect' so booth 5G & 2.4G are accessible. Power reset both the router and Apple TV. Nothing seems to work. Is this router incompatible with Apple TV?......help!
