Bluesound Node Issues

Hey all, I have a Nighthawk AC2600 R7450 Router. I recently bought a Bluesound Node music streamer. The streamer and its iOS-app remote control connects to the router just fine, but there is significant lag ... really slow response when performing any action that involves searching for, selecting, and playing audio. Also, when I select a track to play or switch from a track that is playing to another track there is a consistent 12-second buffer. The Bluesound people have not been able to resolve this for me yet, and I'm hoping someone here can. I have a strong signal (-40 dBm). I've rebooted the router. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Rebooted the streamer. Enabled SGMP. Pretty much all the obvious things. Is there some setting on the router that I can adjust to get this running more seamlessly. I'm pretty ignorant of router technology, so try to keep things simple for me, if you can. Thanks!

  • I posted about this the other day, but I worry that my topic may keep some people from reading. Does anyone have any idea what might cause a music streaming device / app to lag and buffer? The R7450 is not wildly capable and getting old.

To help to narrow down any problems, the usual boilerplate questions.

What firmware version do you have on the device?

A number is more useful than "the latest". There may be newer versions, or "hot fixes", that do not show up if you check for new firmware with an app or in the browser interface.

If there is one it might also help if you told people the make and model number of the modem/gateway/ONT that connects this router to the Internet. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?

I ask because a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting.

Apologies for all the questions. But you can help people to help you by providing the information suggested in this forum's header:

Subject (Include model number and brief summary)
Model (Recommended - Helps the community give the best answers)
Body (Include additional detail including model version, firmware, OS and environment where relevant.)

They are there for a good reason.
