Cable Modem Question
I purchased a NETGEAR Nighthawk AX6000 WiFi 6 Router (RAX120) and it is being delivered tomorrow or the next day. I have am using an old NETGEAR Cable Modem CM600 right now hooked to my current router which I am replacing. My brother has a brand new AC1750 WiFi Cable Modem Router (C6300) in the box that he isn't going to use and said I can have it if I want it.
Can I replace my current CM600 Cable Modem with the C6300 Cable Modem Router and use that with my new RAX120 Router or will it not work since the C6300 is a modem/router? If I need to use my CM600 can I use the C6300 as an extender to boost the signal in the house and place it somewhere else to help with the signal?
We have a 2 story 4,000 sqft house and the router is currently in the the downstairs corner of the house.
Thanks.

C6300 or C6300v2? Look for "Model" on the product label.

disable the router section of the C6300[vX]. That way, you'd lose its
wireless-network capability.Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at least). Read.
Look for a topic like "Cable Your Modem Router to a Router or Gateway".You could also use the C6300[vX] as your main router, and configure
the RAX120 as a wireless access point, but that would require an
Ethernet (or equivalent) connection to the main router (C6300[vX]).> [...] can I use the C6300 as an extender to boost the signal [...]
You should be able to configure it as a wireless access point, but
that would require an Ethernet (or equivalent) connection to the main
router (RAX120).As usual, many things are possible. But, in any case, you want to
end up with _one_ router, whether that's the C6300[vX] or the RAX120.- OkiNickAspirant
Thanks. I'll stop by my brothers this weekend and grab the cable modem router to check the exact model. Pretty sure it is the C6300 and not the C6300v2.
I think if I try replacing my current modem that I will try to disable the C6300 router and use it just as a modem and use the RAX120 as my router being that it supposed to have a larger range than the C6300.

Plausible. Should be harmless and educational.
