Can’t register router

Haven’t had internet access for a few days now, tried to register the router to see if that was the issue, prompt said router was already registered and I only have one account. Bought new from amazon.

It isn't. There is nothing to link registering and using your router.

Here's what it says in the

NETGEAR Product Registration FAQ | Answer | NETGEAR Support

Do I have to register my device in order for it to work?
No; your device will work even if you do not register, but you will not be able to open a support ticket with our technical support team unless you register. If you have not registered, you can still download firmware updates and manuals, and search the technical knowledge base, on the NETGEAR support website: https://www.netgear.com/support/.

All registration does is link you to a database that Netgear uses to check your status for support and warranty.

If you do not register your NETGEAR product, you will miss these benefits:

    • We'll let you know when new firmware is available, including updates that enhance your security
    • Get personalized advice more quickly from NETGEAR experts
    • Join the NETGEAR family and get exclusive offers tailored to you

A different type of "registration" links your device to Netgear's cloud support for things like Anywhere Access. (It used to include ReadyCLOUD, but that is now dead.)

What prompted you to go into registration? Were you trying to sign up for something like that?

If you hit that brick wall, the person who first registered the device can release it:

How do I unregister a NETGEAR product from my NETGEAR account? | Answer | NETGEAR Support

The original owner can do this by logging into their account from anywhere. If you don't know who that was, then check the FAQ.

    I only have one account.

Is that an account for MyNetgear or for this place? They aren't always the same, depending on when you signed up.

The account is for netgear. Also ive had the router for two years and want to register it for anywhere access and so i can i talk firmware without being present at home. I contacted my isp and they tell me the problem is not with them or the modem they provided.

As I explained earlier, there are several Netgear accounts. The one I use here has nothing to do with the one that I use for Anywhere Access.

Have you tried setting up Anywhere Access? What happens?

For once, your ISP they is correct. It has nothing to so with how you use your router.

But it might help if you told us which modem/ONT/Gateway site between your router and the Internet.
