Can the Nighthawk X6 r7900 be configured to VPN and route traffic to another network over the WAN?
I know you can VPN into the local network through the router. But can the Nighthawk X6 r7900 be configured to VPN and route traffic to another network over the WAN? Thanks, Lee

Hi compwolf,
Yes that is correct. The router can be VPN passthrough but not as a client. You may need to have client software on your devices connected to the router.

Since I cannot use a VPN client to connect into my router, I'll need to get rid of the Nighthawk X6 r7900. I have heard that the r8000 does do VPN client outbound. Is that true? It might be a viable replacement

Hi compwolf,
All NETGEAR routers are VPN passthrough but not client. Nighthawk routers like R8000 can be VPN server via the OpenVPN feature but not as a client.
