cannot access router login to do update
When I go to router login, I cannot access it - Error message says I am not connected to my router's WiFi network. This makes no sense to me as I am using a hardwired PC to try to install updates. Ha...

Thanks for the replies, I managed to fix the problem with my phone after a convoluted series of steps that I can't remember, then I was locked out of this community forum for some technical glitch type reason, so didn't bother to try and fix that til now, so thanks again.....

Hi McShan,
Access the router via the IP address(192.168.1.1).

It makes no sense, period. It seems designed to confuse. What's
true (and what the message never mentions) is that you're not using your
Netgear router as your DNS server.
The DNS server in a Netgear router is programmed to intercept a name
like [www.]routerlogin.com, and return the LAN IP address of the router
itself. (Other stuff normally gets passed through to your ISP.) This
works as desired, IF you use the router as your DNS server.
If you use any real-world DNS server, then you get directed to
something like an Amazon Web Services rent-a-computer (currently:
52.27.105.210, 54.201.206.72) whose Web server sends you that
misleading, unhelpful error page. Wired or wireless makes no
difference.

That should work, unless someone has assigned a different address to
the thing.
If you want the [www.]routerlogin.com thing to work, then you need to
use the router as your DNS server. How you'd arrange that would depend
on the (unspecified) device (and OS) where you're running that
(unspecified) Web browser. - JanieKLSep 18, 2017Aspirant
I am not able to log in to 192.168.1.1 either. I receive a box: Authentication Required http://192.168.1.1 requires a username and password. Your connection to this site is not secure. What is next step?

Have you tried a reset on the router and are you using Genie I have seen postings about Genie and router login issues before.

Ignore the warning, and log in anyway? This connection is between
your (unspecified) Web browser on your (unspecified) computer and your
own router. There's no real risk of any stranger in the outside world
intercepting your credentials (unless someone is looking over your
shoulder).

I still cannot log in. I have reset my router. I have tried logging in using the 192.168.1.1 and continue to receive the Authentication Required box. I enter my user name and have tried both previous passwords but am unable to log in. Help please.
