    AWESOME! that did it! 

    just down graded to firmware v1.0.5.64_1.188

    rebooted unit and wah-lah...port 21 (FTP) is closed to shields up port scanner.

Go to ADVANCED > USB Functions > ReadySHARE Storage and disable FTP and HTTPS (via Internet).

port 21 is still open even after disabling ftp and https in readyshare usb functions.

    Do you have UPnP enabled?  If so, disable it.  Reboot the router.

      UPnP is not turned on, and port 21 is still open.

      will try rebooting again.
