Cannot configure new Nighthawk with web browser
I have a new Nighthawk I bought to replace a TP-Link WA901ND used to extend my wireless to the more distant rooms in my home. I am unable to access the web interface and can't configure it. The ...

"unable" is not a useful problem description. It does not say what
you did. It does not say what happened when you did it. As usual,
showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Read. Look for "Set Up the
Router as a WiFi Access Point". Pay particular attention to the
prescribed wiring scheme.

"Don't do that."
The management web-site interface on the R7000 exists for good
reasons.

You might have a better chance if the R7000 was not connected to your
other stuff during its configuration as a WAP. See link below.
Regarding "to connect to my local LAN (via the Nighthawk LAN
connector)", see the User Manual section cited above.

"this"? I would not expect that connecting a client device
(computer, ...) to the R7000 WAN/Internet port would be productive.

That should be possible. I'd suggest, however, using a dynamic
address reservation on your (unspecified) main router, rather than an
actual static address (configured on the R7000-as-WAP, itself).
Selecting "AP Mode" should disable the R7000 DHCP server without any
additional explicit action.

See "Doctor, [...]", above.

I don't know if it'll be suitable for your situation, but configuring
it as a wireless access point should not be an insurmountable problem.

Perfect. Thanks very much, it works perfectly now. I retried and plugged the thing into the other thing and did something and now it all works. Thanks again.
