Cannot connect to my router

Hi Community,

I tried solving my issue for the last 3 days but can't find a way...

I am on xfinity. with a CM1000 modem and a Nighthawk AC3200 as a router.

I got internet getting out of my modem but can't get any internet out of my router.

I can connect different laptop to my modem ethernet cable and all of them will get wifi.

when connected to the router, I have an amber light for internet.

If i connect a computer (mac or laptop) to one of the ethernet port of the router:

I can't connect to 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, routerlogin.net ....

If I look into the network preferences of my mac, I can see an IP adress for the computer but I can't get any router adress. it remains blank. I should have something like  192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, 10.0.0.1 ....

Therefor I cannot access to the Admin login and configuration of the router

I have rebooted multiple times but that doesn't seem to work ...

Help me please !

I assume that the AC3200 is the R8000 listed in your footer. (AC3200 is not a reliable guide to model number. Many devices come with an AC tag, but it is essentially a label that Netgear, and other brands, attach to hardware to describe wifi speeds.)

The login IP for the CM1000  modem is http://192.168.100.1.

It sounds like you need to take you network through the recommended startup routine.

As this is a router, there is probably a modem sitting in front of it. You need to get the devices to forget any inherited settings. Among other things, that means rebooting the network.

Power cuts usually take out both the modem and the router on a network. When the power comes back on, they may start up in the wrong order, with the router starting before the modem is ready. That means that they get confused about which is in charge.

Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:

    • Turn off and unplug modem.
    • Turn off router and computers.
    • Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
    • Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
    • Turn on computers and rest of network.

It might help to start with the manual for the CM1000.

    Visit the support pages:

    Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

Check the section in the manual Connect Your Cable Modem to a Router After Installation and Activation
    .
