Can't Reach This Page, then fixes itself after a second
Nighthawk X8 model R8500
Firmware Version
V1.0.2.160
Hi everyone, recently struggling with an issue where it seems the DNS does not resolve successfully when I try to go to a website. Then after 1-2 seconds, the page reloads and comes up fine.
I have seen some users reporting this issue, and the suggestion was to roll back to a previous firmware version. But, I don't know how to do that, and that advice was a couple years old, so hopefully I don't need to roll back.
I have IPV6 enabled as I saw that in another post as a solution. When I did that a couple months ago, the problem went away, but it has come back now.

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.Does this happen on all devices connected to the router?
Happens with different browsers? Try MS Edge or Firefox or Opera?
Try using alternative DNS like Cloudfare or Quad9 on the router. Apply the changes and reboot both router and PC.
Try disabling IPv6 on the router?
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed?
FYI, this router is EoL so use as is or may need to find something newer:

ipv6 and xfinity have been a struggle bus lately.
Try a different DNS Server. Here's a few. Also remember to change the ipv6 dns server if ipv6 is enabled.
CloudFlare
IPv4: 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1
IPv6: 2606:4700:4700:0:0:0:0:1111 and 2606:4700:4700:0:0:0:0:1001
GoogleDNS
IPv4: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
IPv6: 2001:4860:4860:0:0:0:0:8888 and 2001:4860:4860:0:0:0:0:8844if that doesn't work, try just disabling ipv6

Hi, sorry if this post is in the wrong place.
Got a Nighthawk X8 model R8500 and its firmware is outdated. It produces a network, but has no internet ("connected without internet"). All the documentation for updating firmware tells you to connect to the Router, then navigate to a webpage to login routerlogin.net. I can't navigate anywhere because there is no internet on that network.
On the Nighthawk phone app, same problem, you're supposed to connect to the Router and then get the firmware update. But the router can't reach the internet, so what am i supposed to do?
I have the latest firmware downloaded on my PC, i can put it on a USB drive, or I can connect to the router via ethernet. But how do i get it to take the file from my PC / the USB drive?
Thanks in advance.

So RouterLogin.net did not work, it wouldn't display the webpage. But 192.168.1.1 worked
If anyone was having my problem, once you log in to 192.168.1.1 (default creds are admin/password) you need to go to the advanced tab, then Administration, and then Router Upgrade. It will then give you an option to upload the firmware update file from your PC.
However, this didn't do anything for my real problem, as the router is still "connected without Internet" even after successful upgrade to the latest firmware.
