CAX80 — Nighthawk 8-Stream WiFi 6 Cable Modem Router
I would not recommend purchasing this device. I ordered mine last year and it died within months. A year and some months later, (today) The replacement died!
The past few months it’s been dropping its Multi gig port connection, The WiFi has been sluggish. Poor video quality, lagging, buffering. Today it finally just flat out died like the first one did. It won’t boot back up. The only lights that are lighting up on the device is the power symbol light.
I’m experiencing the same problems I was experiencing with the first. The speeds are great, the range for the Wi-Fi is amazing. But there’s clearly something wrong with this model and Netgear isn’t doing anything to fix it.

I've got one and its been rock solid since I started using it. I have a neighbor keeping it up and running since I'm currently using a CM2000 but its still been rock solid.
It'd be rare to get 2 dud's but maybe its where its located. The CAX80 runs a bit warm because of its capabilities. Are you keeping in properly cooled or in a location where there's good airflow?

Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for the Cable Modem products. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with Cable modems and know how to work it better than those of us who follow this router forum. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:

I have mine running in modem only mode, MultiGig port working well since I've had my CAX80.
Please use this link to the main forum product list to review and choose where to make your posts.
