community@netgear.com email with a private message attached - is this from an official account?

1. Is the community@netgear.com an official email? I got a daemon error when I tried responding to it.

2. I don't see a private message here. I am not familiar with the site, but I see no indication/notification that I have a PM waiting for me. Is there a PM function here? If not, obviously I have fallen for a trick and need to change my passwords here, which I will do after posting this.

3. The PM in question is for an obvious spam Work From Home ad, telling me to click the link to earn over $350 a day! If I did indeed get this email from Netgear official, I am really disappointed in the quality control of this "automated" message. Did this come from here?

Long and short of it - I am not here to get anything but support when I ask for it. Despite finding settings for Private Conversations, I cannot actually find the PM in question and am concerned that this is a well-done phishing attempt. If it is from an official account, there is a serious problem here and it will inform my future purchasing decisions, as well as end my membership on these forums. What happened here?

    The email you received is from our automated email server that sends out alerts from this community based on your engagement. For example, you may receive an email from community@netgear.com if you newly registered for an account, subscribed to a forum or discussion, receive a private message, and/or ranked up.

     

    The private message summarized in the alert email IS a scam! I have taken the appropriate action so this user cannot spam anyone else in the community.

    I believe it is though I haven't seen anything from this address before. I can ask about it.

    To send a Private Message select on the Send this user a private message button seen on all user profiles.
