connect access point WNDR4300

I have a modem in the basement from my provider and an WNDR4300 access point in the living room for a better connection also from my provider. Both have the same SSID and password and the same confg...

What is the modem? (It sounds like a modem/router if it does wifi.)

 

Is the WNDR4300 configured in AP mode? Is it wired to the modem? (The WNDR4300 can also do "WDS" and work as a wifi repeater.)
