connect USB drive

I'm using my r7800 router in bridge mode (my modem connection to the internet is via DSL).

The connection between the DSL modem and the R7800 is ethernet CAT5e.

My computer is connected to the R7800 via ethernet CAT5e.

I would like to connect a 5TB external HDD (USB 2.0 and 3.0 compatible) to the R7800 to use as a network drive.

Any help would be appreciated.

What is the modem in front of the R7800? Why is the router in bridge mode? It is more normal to put the modem into bridge (modem only) mode?

That would be the usual way to get the R7800 to work with USB devices.

DSL mode should have no impact on the router's operating mode. My R7800 is a router attached to a DM200 DSL modem. (Router bit disabled.)

What do you mean by "bridge mode"? I ask because that term can describe various different configurations. With the R7800 it usually means using it as a "wireless bridge". Is that your set up?

I am not familiar with the features that a wireless bridge removes. With luck ReadySHARE still works.

I have used various USB drives on an R7800. The list of devices known to work is here:

That list is not complete.  For example, it does not include the 8TB Seagate Backup Plus Hub that I use.
