Connecting 2 routers. R6400v2 and R8000, having issues

"directly" mean to you? Wired? Wireless? Other?

the R6400"? What, exactly does "regular port" mean to you? "LAN" port?

   Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Read. Look for "Use
the Router as a Wireless Access Point".

   "Basically" is seldom a good way to begin.

   Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Downloads. (For older versions, under Firmware and Software
Downloads, look for "View Previous Versions".) Find the kit(s).
Download the kit(s) you want. Read the "Release Notes" file for
instructions. (In the User Manual, look for "firmware", and,
especially, for a topic like "Manually Upload Firmware to the Router".)
When that fails because of a deficient User Manual, try:

   Not really. A wireless access point is called a _wireless_ access
point because it provides wireless access, not because it uses a
wireless connection to the main router. When a typical Netgear wireless
router is configured as a WAP, its Ethernet switch continues to operate.

   "Access Point" is an abbreviation of "Wireless Access Point"; it's
not a different type of device.

   Yes, when configured as a WAP, a router will get a new/different LAN
IP address.

   "issues"? None of that is a useful problem description. It does
not say what you did. It does not say what happened when you did it.
As usual, showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results
(error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.

  Connected wired of course. to use as an access point.

  You misunderstand. I'm setting it up as a "WIRED" access point.
  so when setting this up as a "WIRELESS" access point you also get the "WIRED ACCESS POINT"
  I need to use the "WIRED" ports, "WIRELESS" is turned off.

  R8000-V1.0.0.46_1.0.17, Basically, Basic is all this should have been. Simple and basic.

  Did you not watch the video of the full page ad for NightHawk Android APP, on every page of the admin area, on the router that is not NightHawk, on the Router is not the one I updated, on the router I was connected to directly "ETHERNET PORT WIRED" not the one with NightHawk. Did you even read the post? Or watch the video? This was not a simple banner at the top, or on the left nav, those are there too. Way to much monetization ADs everywhere.

       There is no such thing. Which part of the following was unclear?:

       If you want, then you can disable the radio(s) in a router-as-WAP,
    and make it a simple network switch. Many people just get a cheap
    network switch.
