Thanks for the detailed description of your "my printer".  Has it a
maker and model number?  Does its maker provide any instructions for it?
    "connecting" how, exactly?

Thanks for the detailed description of your "my netgear 40 router".
"NETGEAR40"?  Not a model number.  Look for "Model" on the product
label.  Firmware version?  Connected to what?

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
and look for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Read.  Look for the
    LED descriptions and "Troubleshoot".

Thanks for the detailed description of your "trouble", but "trouble"
is not a useful problem description.  It does not say what you did.  It
does not say what happened when you did it.  As usual, showing actual
actions (commands) with their actual results (error messages, LED
indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague descriptions or
    interpretations.

_I_ am having trouble trying to imagine how you expected any
non-psychic to provide any help, based on no useful information.

The usual way to fix wifi printers, if that is what you own, is to find the printer maker's utility, the software that runs on your operating system. Then use that to connect the printer to the wifi.

The router just broadcasts wifi. It is then down to the printer to play ball. There isn't much that you can do on a router, beyond fixing it to a particular IP address, that affects what the printer gets up to.

Where possible, using the WPS feature can simplify things.
