Connecting to 2.4gb not allowing connection
I have noticed since I have added a bunch of smart items to the 2.4 gb connection, it is very difficult to connect phones and computers to the 2.4. It is also difficult to connect any new smart items...
so the bottom line is, instead of 30 items listed on the router, it could take those 30 items and put them on the WAP and the router would only have one ip Address listed on the 2.4 connection and the others would be on the WAP?
NG routers have a limit of 32 wifi devices as a max per band. I think you're overloading the band with your smart gizmos
Most consumer grade routers have not caught up with todays IoT's everywhere. I think the only Netgear solution would be an Orbie setup. I think they support 250 devices total.
I left Netgear for firmware reasons and went more toward commercial grade. That direction is not for everyone, at least with what I have, but I can support 200 devices, mixed per AP.
You can spread the load somewhat by adding a WAP (wireless access point) to your router and moving some of these gizmos to the WAP
I am not sure how to setup a WAP to the router. I am not sure how to connect devides to it. Is it a separate system within the router?
You buy a WAP and hook it up with ethernet cable to the router. The router gives it an IP address and you go to that address with a browser and configure the WAP. Then you move over some of your gizmoz to the WAPs SSID for 2.4 GHz
Which model Orbie did you choose? I have a at least 30 2.4 devices and would add more if possible. I also have a pool house that is 50 yards from the house and the signal is pretty weak out there to get the 2.4 connection and/or setup additional devices (smart lights). Do I need the main router and a sattelite?
