Connecting to Cannon MX490 printer

Question

I'm trying to connect my new Netgear AC2600 router to my Cannon MX490 printer using wireless.&nbsp; It previously was set up using LAN settings and a WPS button on the old router.&nbsp; The 2600 router does not have a WPS button.&nbsp; The instructions from the printer say that it can be connected without the WPS button using a PIN number.&nbsp; I got the PIN number from the printer display, but I'm at a loss as to how to input this number into the router.&nbsp; Any suggestions?&nbsp; Thanks.

The model number is AC2600, as I said. Yes, I HAVE READ THE **bleep**ING MANUAL for both the router connection to the printer and the printer directions for connecting to the router. The printer is about 10 years old, which may account for some lack of compatibility between the two. I have never had problems connecting wirelessly to a router. Perhaps you don’t know everything????

AC2600 is not usually a reliable guide to model number. Many devices come with an AC tag, but it is essentially a label that Netgear, and other brands, attach to hardware to describe wifi speeds.

The AC2600 is one of a handful of devices that really does use that tag as the model&nbsp; number. But in typical Netgear style, it also uses that designation on the R7400, R7450 and R7800 routers. So you can see why some of us might get confused about what you were asking about.

Your first message wasn't correct, though, when you said.

The 2600 router does not have a WPS button.

On the AC2600, it is the button on the top-right, same as it is on the R7450, R7800 and most recent Netgear routers. It is one of those indicator lights that is also a switch, like the wifi LED. Look in the manual at Table 2. LED and button descriptions.

You also asked about the PIN number. That too is described in the manual, in the section Use the WPS Wizard for WiFi Connections.
The usual way to fix wifi printers that I suggest is to find the printer maker's utility, the software that runs on your operating system. Then use that to connect the printer to the wifi.

In the case of my&nbsp;Canon printer, there is something called the Canon IJ Network Tool.

Apologies for that, but you are just one of today's victims of this behaviour. Most of the users who turn up there to offer help, just want to help, in as friendfly a way as possible, anyone grappling with Netgear's stuff. There is nothing that other users can do when an innocent bystander gets abused in this way.
