I have used this Router/Modem on a static WAN IP for many months without a problem. I just changed ISP and now have their assigned WAN IP which changes daily. I updated the D7800 to the latest FW V...

Problem seems to be solved:
- backup configuration file
- factory reset
- reconnect using setup wizard
WAN IP changed overnight but DSL connection did not drop. Fingers crossed that wasn't a fluke.

OMG! I have had this exact same problem on my D7800 modem-router running firmware v1.0.1.56 on Plusnet VDSL 2 in the UK for the past few months.
Randomly at between around 2 to 3am in the morning the amber internet light would come on, the connection dropped but the D7800 would not reconnect / bind / sync itself to the fibre broadband connection, even though there was an active connection. Always between 2-3am. Sometimes at 11pm, other times at around 1am. in a 10 day period I had eight drops (one a day).
All I have done is added a static IP address from my ISP (Plusnet.) Plusnet has even given me a fresh static IP address and that hasn't helped. Also, BT Openreach has installed two new phone sockets, re-wired both sockets with fresh cable back to the street, replaced the pair of 'legs' on the box in the street - yet still the random drops.
I am using DNS Servers 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 from Cloudflare.
My Router MAC Address was set to 'Use This MAC Address' - I have now changed it to 'Use Default Address' under 'Internet Setup'.
This morning (16th September) I have seen there is a new firmware update (v1.0.1.58) which I have just upgraded to.
Does this sound familliar to you? What else did you do to solve this problem?
