Did a factory reset and now netgear wont let me log in via ISP - keeps redirecting to Nighthawk APP
Hi, I had to do a factory reset and now I'm trying to log back in and set things up -- without using the nighthawk app. But every time I type in Http://192.168.1.1, I am redirected to a page to down...

Thank you. I did scroll to the bottom and click, but I kept getting redirected to Netgear web pages.
I finally figured it out. I had to disable VPN and brave shield.

Hi,
I put the model number in the body of my post, so I'm not sure why it did not show?
I'm not super tech savvy, so I appreciate your patience as I describe this.
My setup:
1. I have a Netgear Modem (CM500)
2. Netgear router (AC-1600/R6260) connected to modem with ethernet cable
3. Desktop PC is connected with ethernet cable into the router
I opened a browser window and typed https://192.168.1.1 into the search bar
(Brave Browser/Duck Duck Go, but also tried Firefox/Google)
I do have a copy of the manual downloaded onto my computer. This is not the first time I've had issues with this router. :-(
The instructions don't give much more detail than to type in the IP address or use their App.
I have been searching forums...extensively.
Every time I type in the 192....IP address, I get redirected to a web page about the NightHawk asking me to download the app.
I have cleared the cash/cookies/history for both browswers.
I don't want to use the Nighthawk App.
In the past, I was able to simply type in the IP address and access my router. What happened? and How can I fix this?
Many thanks.

On the page it refers you to the app, scroll down to the botton and there's a link that says something like "I don't have or phone" or something like that. Click it and you should be able to use the browser for setup.

Good research. Which VPN?
Let that be a lesson to anyone who has a network with that sort of complication. These things exist to mess around with P addresses. No wonder they get in he way of your browser.

You did. It was there, which is why no one asked for that.
It was the modem that we needed to know about. Fortunately, you have nothing complicated on that front. Just a cable modem with voice.

Thank you. I'm using Mullvad VPN.
