Difference between C7000 & C7000v2?

What's the difference between the nighthawk c7000 and the c7000v2 model? Is the v2 just newer?

    Checked the datasheets?

New versions sometimes use different chips.

Cable modems also suffer from firmware rigor mortis. Neither you nor Netgear can update them. The Internet service providers won't allow it. Only they can roll out new firmware and most don't seem to want to know about that.

So a new version may implement features that aren't in the older version. So look at the features on offer.

Without access to the engineering data, or dissecting both of them,
or thorough testing of both, the published specs are about all you can
      judge by.

The most probable (practically certain) difference is that the
(different) "v2" hardware is cheaper to build than the "[v1]" hardware
      would be.

If the hardware differences are great enough that the two don't share
firmware, then you can expect to find different firmware bugs.

As a forum or Web search for "D7000" and "D7000v2" might reveal, much
more than "chips" can be different.

And bugs.  Try using NAT loopback on a D7000v2, for example.
