EX7500 compatibility with Verizon G3100

I just installed a Verizon G3100 router and can not get my Netgear EX7500 extender connected. I tried the WPS setup and the manual setup. Neither works. Are these two devices incompatible?

    I've seen a lot of posts about issues with the G3100 because its verizon's mesh network. 

    A few people said they got it working when they disabled SON (self organizing network) on the G3100 but more haven't gotten it working than have.
