Extender connecting to laptop via ethernet cable

Thanks, it is a (gubment) computer, and the wifi is disabled, so if it doesn't detect it as wired it will not connect. I tried it with a wn3000RP extender because the instructions said it would connect other devices via the ethernet, (it didn't work) but with deeper digging I found out it meant it would connect other devices wireless, not what she needs. If the ex7000 don't work with the IT support, I will ask about the powerline. Is the powerline affected by any electrical fluctuations, surges, voltage, etc. Or does it flow straight through the wire with no outside interference? Just curious.

Powerline can be subject to interference.

Its why the actual speeds can be vastly inflated on powerline devices.

The wn3000rp didn't work when hardwired into it?

Did other devices when hardwired into it?

No it wouldn't, even when we set the computer to ethernet. I have never tried the wn3000 with anything else. The powerline doesn't affect the WiFi of all the other devices does it?

  I'd try the wn3000rp with other devices to see if it works or wasn't setup right.
