Hi All,
Please post here for any update/issue related to the latest firmware 1.0.9.18.

You should review this and maybe revert back to this recommended version of FW:

Since I've flashed Tomato a few weeks ago I've forgotten that I have a router- it's working perfectly getting dust because i do not touch it at all :-)...
Parental control works perfectly, 0 drops, strong signal - save your time and do a similar thing!

Currently running V1.0.9.18_1.2.27.
Problem is that 2.4G devices fall off the network. I've already done a Factory Reset and set everything up again by hand. After the reset or reboot, I can get everything connected just fine for about an hour or so, then the 2.4G devices fall off and can't reconnect until the router is rebooted.
I'm running Smart Connect and QoS and the R7000 is in Router mode.

Hi MPrinter17,
Can you disable the Smart connect first and observe the connection? We will try to identify if the those features being enabled affect the performance of the wireless.

Done. I've disabled the Smart Connect and seperated my 5G and 2.4G devices to different SSID's. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm also experiencing the 2.4GHz drops. I upgraded to 1.0.9.18_x code with Smartconnect enabled. The problem did not go away. I disabled Smartconnect and separated the 2.4/5GHz SSID's. I've now been running with Smartconnect disabled for 4 or 5 days and the problem persists.
I have to reboot my router 2-3 times a day to get my 2.4GHz devices back on the network. I've moved any device that is 5GHz capable to my 5GHz SSID, but that doesn't help with all of my 2.4GHz-only devices (e.g Nest Protects).
This problem existed under the previous code release. I'm very disappointed that Netgear hasn't corrected the problem. If a solution doesn't get posted soon, I will need to try Advanced Tomato.
- MPrinter17Dec 19, 2017StarI disabled the smart connect and split my SSIDs. After about 30 min all the 2.4G connected devices fell off.
I disconnected my phone from the 5G network and was unable to connect to the 2.4G. I connected back to the 5G no problem. So whatever it is affects the 2.4G connections.- SeanPGHDec 19, 2017Aspirant
Same issue. 2g Devices unable to connect to 2g network. devices that can support both connect to 5g fine, can not connect to 2g. This is on printers, windows, android, and I havent tried apple yet. I also did another reset and for some reason it is not broadcasting the SSID any more.

I have the exact same config as you. I had the same symptoms you described. This release fixed the problem for me. I'm not sure this is important, but I did power off or soft reset all my devices and let them rediscover after the update. The reason I mention this is my network discovery happened really fast and DHCP work perfectly for once. p.s. most of my devices are static or reserved IPs.

Do not understand why Netgear is not capable of getting the 2.4 bandwidth working. Should be top priority.- HWAMDec 23, 2017ApprenticePlease tell me if you still are able to ping the devices. Do they still reply on a ping? In my case I always get a reply. No communication possible but the devices still reply on a ping. Please test while you have the problem. Try to ping a 2.4GHz device from a wired device.

Hi all
My Nighthawk R7000 is three years old. When this stuff started I was thinking hardware failure due to age but then figured out via this community that the FW has been the culprit. I am also not a "techie", so some of these discussions are a bit over my head. Now I have found that when my 2.4 Ghz band items have dropped off, a simple off on restart of the router does the trick. When they have dropped I can't ping them because the router doesn't show them as attached. When I restart the router they attache and pinging works.
Now in all of these messages I have found three common themes:
1) The 2.4 Ghz band is the unstable one more often than not, with devices using it dropping from 1 to 36 hours after reset;
2) these devices may think they are connected to the router but they don't have internet connection or appear in the attached devices menu;
3) manually configuring set up after a hard reset versus using backup config can create new problems (i.e. Android or Apple products recorgnizing but not connecting to the network).
The beta firmware cited earlier in teh thread seems to have similar issues.
I don't want to drop a couple of hundred unexpected dollars at this time of year on a new router. Recognize it's freaking annoying to spend 30 minutes or so once ot twice a day to reset the devices and or the router. I can deal with it over the holidays but not when I go back to work and my kid needs a stable connection to do homework.
So willing to give Netgear a chance to develop a solution. At the same time starting look at options from flashing back to an older version of the FW to researching possible replacements.
