After you upgraded the firmware on your R8000P, did you regenerate the configuration files and copy them to the client machines?
What version of the Open VPN client application are you running on your Windows machines?
What version of Windows are you running on your client machines?
Are you attempting to establish more than one VPN session at a time?

OpenVPN Windows config files were regenerated. Note that this works for about 24 hours. Then ceases.
2.5.8 but there are probably other versions.
Windows 10 Pro & 11 Pro. All current on Windows updates.
Only 1 session per client ever. From client to Netgear. Most of the time only 1 person is using this. But when it fails for her it fails for everyone.

Have you configured and are you using a Dynamic Domain Name Server service?
One thing that happens on a 24 hour cycle is the expiration of DHCP leases for IP addresses. Are your client machines configured for a fixed IP? Are you client machines set for a reserved IP address from your router configuration?

We are not uisng DDNS as we have a static WAN IP address.
No address reservations are for the VPN users. Only for MAC/IP address reservation for an MFP.

The most recent (August 15, 2023) update to the Windows client application is version 2.6.6. You might give that a try. I updated several machines without issue and continued with the previous configuration files.
Who is your ISP? Mine is going through a lot of local changes and upgrades.
Are you using your ISP default DNS? In your router, have your configured any of the public DNS?
Does your ISP support IPv6 and do you have it enabled in your router configuration?
