"FREE" dynamic dns is a lie?
I was promised "free" lifetime dynamic dns if I used a Netgear domain with no-ip THIS IS NOT TRUE I signed up with no ip & set up my VPN and Dynamic DNS in November. about 30 days later, my VPN...
This is the second feature I have tried to use that has been "removed" after I purchased the device.
Backup was removed & I only found out after posting on this forum.
Now the "free" DDNS is removed.
This is the 4th or 5th Netgear product I have in my house. I had a WNR3000 that I loved, and because of that I bought only Netgear switches and other devices for the last 10 years.
THIS IS THE LAST NETGEAR PRODUCT I WILL EVER BUY
It wasn't something netgear had a choice in as it was pushed from No-IP.
but all you have to do is confirm it once a month.

There is no money in it for the hardware makers, and, as plemans says, the people who provide this service decided that it would discontinue its deal with Netgear. The biggest loss seems to have been the death of free parental controls.
As with all of these add-on services,the world is moving towards a subscription model. (Just ask Microsoft amd Adobe.) The fact that someone spent $100 15 years ago is hardly a great money machine for No-IP.
The WNR3000 doesn't exist, but most "WNR" models are from before 2010.
