Getting "Access is not private" when I try to login to the router R6900P
When I try to login to my R6900P, it issues error "access is not private" Here's an image ot this message: I had been running an ad blocker called UBLOCK. I thought it might be interfering so ...
That is probably a message from your browser. Browsers are getting increasingly picky about security issues, especially "http" sites. They expect to see "https". But access to the router is local, on your network. Nothing to worry about.
Most browsers offer an option to ignore that warning and to proceed to the web page. In your case, "Advanced" link should take you there.

The message is coming from the scan-document app for my mulii-function printer HP6500 Series.
BTW it says you are an experienced user. I see "Just another user with time on their hands" Is that supposed to be funny?
I think this may be relevant: I recently installed a device called XUMO, which does interact with the Netgear. A technician was at my home on Friday 1/31 and spent 45 minutes. Part of the time he was behind the TV where the router is located, and he did request the password from me.

Puzzling that you say that the message comes when you "try to login to my R6900P". How does that tie in with the printer?
It may well track back to the security settings in Windows, or whatever operating system you are using. You don't say. There's nothing there to suggest that your router is the source of the message.
Have you asked HP for help?
How does this printer connect to the network? WiFi? USB? Wired Ethernet?

The signature is my way of telling people that I do not work for Netgear. I am one of a small band of regular users who try to help people with problems, based on what we read here. Unlike some people, I prefer to distance myself from the official support system.
Whether it is funny or not is down to your perception.

And this Xumo does what? Did this behaviour start after the technician fiddled around with your system?
As you can see, there are plenty of questions here that make it difficult to pin down what is going on.
