Half speed when connected wirelessly
When I run the Speedtest via the Nighthawk iphone app I get 70mbps (should be getting 60mbps from my ISP) but when I run a speedtest via Ookla from my laptop connected wirelessly I only get 30mbps. Router firmware is up to date and I've kept all the default settings with the exception of turning on Smart Connect.
Unfortunately, I don't have an ethernet port on my laptop to confirm that the wired connection is in fact 70mbps. Could the Nighthawk app speedtest just be wrong?
I'm a complete novice with networking so any troubleshootings tips would be much appreciated.

What is your "my laptop"? Is it wirelessly connecting using the
2.4GHz (slower, longer-range) radio, or the 5GHz (faster, shorter-range)
radio?

An actual version number would be more useful than your opinion of
what's "up to date" today.

Borrow/buy/rent/steal one (or an adapter for your "my laptop")?

Sure, but a slow wireless connection might be more likely.- Username0101Aspirant
Hi antinode,
Thanks for the response.
My laptop is a MacBook Air. It looks like the laptop is connected to the 2.4, however, my iphone is connected to the 5GHz and both are only getting speeds of 30Mbps.
Firmware version is 1.3.1.26_10.1.3. The nighthawk apps says the firmware is up to date when I check for updates.
I booted up my old desktop and tested the wired connection, still only 30Mbps.
Any thoughts?

Have you tried to test another server location when speed testing on the speed test website?
