Having to reboot router at least once per day
Ttile says it all really. It is well ventilated, sitting by my desktop Mac.

Not really.
It doesn't tell us why you have to reboot the router. What happens that prompts you to do this?

It loses the internet connection and will only pick it up again with a reboot.

Thanks for adding more information, but it still doesn't tell us much.
What do the LEDs on the modem/router look like.
What does "loses the internet connection" mean?
The wifi goes down? Your wired (LAN) devices show some sort of dektop alert?
Apologies for the questions, but there are so many way that something can lose the internet connection that without details about what actually happens rather than vague "it won't work" replies.
