Hey there I can't seem to port forward on my router

Hey there,

I have a Nighthawk x6 R8000 router and in the settings menu I open some ports and then apply, and then I make sure my machine is set up in the LAN settings so that I have a static IP but when I go to commonly used websites to check If I have the ports open they all can't connect. I also have opened the ports in windows firewall on the machine I am trying to port foward.

  • Port checking websites need a service running on the forwarded port to detect it's actually open and something is listening on it. If you have nothing listening on the port(s), the sites will report it as closed

Sorry for late response, forgot to include that the service I was using was open and I attempted to check the ports while said game was running and I was "hosting" said game.

Games are a bit "special". They only listen/innitiate a connection when it's needed. Try running a webserver or an ftp server and test again.
