How do I enable the extender mode feature on my Nighthawk router R7000?
Below are the instructions I found.
I was able to do all but when I I got to this- I was unsure of what to enter: Italicized and underlined.
When put a new Mac address and IP address- it allowed me on but then I couldny get into the new setup and see if it worked.
Ideas?
Thank you!
10. In the Repeater IP Address field, type the IP address of the router that you want to make the extender.
Note: Your router’s IP address is usually listed on a sticker located on your router. The last octet of the extender router’s IP address must be different than your main router’s IP address. For example, if your main router’s IP address is 192.168.1.1, your repeating router should have an IP address like 192.168.1.75.
For more information, see What is an IP address?.
11. (Optional) If you don’t want to use your extender router for WiFi, only for wired Ethernet connections, select Disable Wireless Client Association.
For example, you might choose this option if you are only setting up the extender to connect a wired printer, television, or other device to your network.
12. In the Base Station MAC Address field, enter the MAC address of your Nighthawk router.
To enable the extender mode feature on your Nighthawk router:
- Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to your Nighthawk router’s wireless network.
- Visit http://www.routerlogin.net. If http://www.routerlogin.net does not work, try the following:
3. Enter your user name and password.
The default user name is admin. The default password is password.
Note: The user name and password are case-sensitive.
The BASIC page displays.
4. Select Wireless and verify that the wireless settings of your Nighthawk router are correct.
5. Before enabling extender mode, Security Options must be set to None.
6. Click the ADVANCED tab.
7. Select Advanced Setup > Router/AP/Bridge/Repeating Mode.
8. Select Enable Wireless Repeating Function for the 2.4GHz or 5GHz WiFi band.
For more information, see What is the difference between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless frequencies?.
9. Select the radio button for Wireless Repeater.
10. In the Repeater IP Address field, type the IP address of the router that you want to make the extender.
Note: Your router’s IP address is usually listed on a sticker located on your router. The last octet of the extender router’s IP address must be different than your main router’s IP address. 12. In the Base Station MAC Address field, enter the MAC address of your Nighthawk router.
Your router’s MAC address is on a sticker located on the back or bottom of your router.
13. Click Apply.
Your Nighthawk router is now in extender mode.
