How do I increase the speed on my R6080

What speeds do you pay for?
What modem do you have?
Are you talking wired speed?
Wireless speed? and if wireless, are you talking 2.4ghz or 5ghz?
You might also keep in mind the R6080 only has fast ethernet ports (10/100mbps) so thats going to be your bottleneck in most cases.
- I pay for 200 and get in the low 90’s but when I wire direct from arris modem I’m getting 213 I guess I’ll have to get a different router to handle 200 wireless
A couple things.
1. You're right in that you'll need to upgrade the router to hit 100mbps+ speeds. The bottleneck in the R6080 is its 10/100mbps connections.
2. 200mbps is a decent speed. don't expect to hit 200mbps over 2.4ghz on your devices. 5ghz should but the 2.4ghz band is a slow band and is sensitive to interference.
3. when looking at routers, you don't need "the best" but you do want more than a base model devices. With you already having 200mbps, I'd make sure to get a half decent router so you've got a little future proofing.
