Thank you for that; I wasn't aware. Don't see were I can delete that from this post now. The router is R7900.
I am feeling I will abandon it and just purchase a more up to date model and scrap this one anyway.
I appreciate all the help.

Even with a newer router, the same basic concepts still apply. Make sure you have separate SSIDs for your 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands and make sure your phone is connected to the same band as you are trying to connect to your robot.
