How to reboot Nighthawk R7000P remotely

- Nov 14, 2023The Keep Connect smart plug completely solved the issue. It senses any interruption and reboots until the connection is reestablished. You can also monitor the status of the KC plug via internet and use multiple KC plugs for a more complex network.

The cable modem is a recent model provided by Altice. Not home now so I don’t have the model number, but it’s a pure modem, not a router, and it doesn’t go down. It’s only the router that needs reboot. And yes, it’s just a plug out and plug in, no actual reset.
But I can’t reboot with the App, because the app loses that function when the connection is down. Perhaps you have a recommendation on some kind of smart plug that will do an automatic reboot when the router loses connection?

I have no knowledge of that sort of thing. How it would work when you don't have an operating router at the home end to control the switch is beyond me.

What happens is simple: despite no issues with the cable modem, the Nighthawk router loses connectivity and needs to be rebooted, which always fixes the issue.
“Keep Connect” is one smart plug which functions off its own local network to detect outages and reboot the router. It can also be programmed to simply reboot daily. We had one earlier today whose "latest" turned out to be three years out of date. That is why we ask for the version number.

What loses connectivity? The link to the modem? The wired Ethernet? The Wifi? All wifi?
What do the LEDs on the router look like? Are there any clues in the router's logs?
These questions may seems irrelevant to you, but this looks like your first time here. Regulars are used to these requests for details.
Accurate diagnosis depends on having as much information as possible about your network and what happens. That will waste less of your time.

But what drops out is both wired and wireless internet devices, all of which depend on the router, with a cable modem that is functioning normally according to my isp. And the modem never needs to be rebooted to restore service, only the router.
