Thanks for the idea. i did not have a DMZ server configured, but in the same configuration screen (see picture) I noticed the NAT Filtering option. I checked "Disabled SIP ALG". Hopefully this solves the issue.
For some reason including a picture in the text does not work so I attached it as a file.

A DMZ server would be another way to allow incoming connections.
A settings reset and manual reconfiguration is the usual shotgun to
employ when the displayed settings disagree with the actual behavior.
