Intermittent WiFi drop out

    With the router being the backbone of the system, the R7000 (even though it works fine without the extender) could be the issue. 

    since you updated the firmware, has a factory reset and clean install ever been done on it? 

    If not, that's where I'd start. 

    If it has, then I'd start by installing version 1.0.9.42 of the firmware to the R7000. then factory reset/clean install on it. (clean install=not from a backup configuration)

What firmware is on the R7000? This is key as the R7000 isn't known for the best firmware out there. 

What firmware is on the EX6400?

What size is your home? how many levels?

What are the interior walls made of? 

How far from the router are you?

Have you tried moving the extender around? 

Or changing wireless channels that are being broadcast on?

    R7000 firmware is V1.0.11.106_10.2.100

    EX6400V2 firmware is V1.0.0.128

     

    Home is 1900 sq Ft, 2 stories.  Wall all wood studs with drywall.   
    issue happens on first floor where router and extender are located.   Happens with 1-10 ft from either.   

    I have not tried moving the extender.

     

    any advice is appreciated.

        Thanks again for the recommendations.   I did a reset on the router and did a minor relocation of the extender. Everything seems to be working well now with no drops outs.
