Some actual details help.
1. what router do you have?
2. what extender did you buy? Was it the PLW1010 that you put in your signature? That's a powerline setup with wireless AP.
3. If it is the PLW1010, what actual speed do you get hardwired into the powerline device for speed? Not wireless
- David1313141Aug 08, 2021AspirantHey, sorry for not being so specific, okay first of all yes when I look at the back of my meat gear product it says “Powerline WiFi 1000 Model: PLW1000v2” 2nd I have a spectrum router that is quite new, about 7 months ago I updated my old router and got this one. 3rd the I use the PLW1000v2 via hardwired into my computer I got around 17-27 MBPS, while wireless I get around 13-24 MBPS.

Powerline is sensitive to interference.
if your wired speeds are capped at that 27mbps, then it tends to be limitation of the sytem.
You can try optimizing things but a lot comes down to a few interference issues.
1. distance. outlets might be right next to each other but on seperate circuits. crossing circuits adds distance and decreases speeds quickly
2. circuits. things like arc fault circuits can drop speeds.
3. interference. things like old/bad/cheap wired homes can cause interference. Also, old electronics or electronics going bad can inject interference.
4. gfci, surge protectors all can cause interference
5. cheap cell phone chargers can cause interference
So many things impact powerline speeds. Your hardwired speeds are going to give you the most accurate backhaul information. you can try changing locations or unplugging devices to see if it helps.
