Internet signal cutting in/out
Hi there, Keeping in mind that anyone reading this is very likely to be more educated about routers than I am (so please be patient with me), I have the following issue. I've had my R8000 rou...

Your modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem. https://kb.netgear.com/25891/DMZ-on-NETGEAR-routers

3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the NG router to the modem, LAN to LAN configure AP mode on the NG router.

According to the Netgear Nighthwawk software, the firmware version is v1.0.1.76_10.1.82 (I check weekly for updates, and have done so this morning).
The modem, as best as I can determine is made by Nokia. Reviewing the manual, it's not clear what the model number is, but I believe this one is it...5G21-12W-A High Speed Internet Gateway. Not sure if this further helps with information about this device:

Thanks very much.
I'm certain that "bridge mode" is not an option with the modem. Many people in the T Mobile community have complained about this (for this very reason). So I think you're correct in that option #2 is where I need to focus. However, with internet security being what it is, is doing this wise? Won't I lose the Bitdefender protection built in to the router by doing so? With the current geopolitical landscape being what it is today, I'm a little leary about opening my network up to potential nefarious sites or access to my system.
Again, I'm quite a novice with all of this! Thank you!!

The NG router has a firewall and can use Armor if chose to use that service. So yes, you can use the DMZ on the ISP modem for the NG router.

Sorry. I think I missed a critical detail! Are you saying that I should adjust the DMZ settings on the ISP Modem/Router?? I thought you were saying to do so on the Netgear router. Verifying my understanding...you mean I should do this on my ISP modem/router, right?
