IP Addresses

Hello! I am wondering if the IP Address displayed on my Nighthawk app is supposed to be the same as the IP Address on my desktop computer?

My desktop computer IP address is: xxx.xxx.1.5

and the IP address on the Nighthawk app is: xxx.xxx.1.1

All are the same numbers except for the last two. Is that okay? Will it cause problems?

Thanks in advance!

       Ok.

Which is the IP address of what?

"192.168.1.1" and "192.168.1.5"?  Different devices on a LAN _must_
    have different IP addresses.

You'd have problems if they were the same.

Strictly speaking, a computer (or similar device) does not have an IP
address; a network _interface_ has an IP address.  If a computer/device
has only one network interface, then you can get sloppy, and associate
the address with the computer/device itself.

If a computer/device has more than one active network interface, then
each interface must have its own unique IP address, and referring to
"the address of the computer/device" would be misleading.

Your router, for example, has an IP address for its WAN/Internet
interface (your external/public address), and a different IP address for
    its LAN interface ("192.168.1.1", apparently).

R6700[v1], R6700v2, or R6700v3?  Look for "Model" on the product
    label.  Firmware version?

On its management web site ("routerlogin.net", or "192.168.1.1"?),
look at ADVANCED > ADVANCED Home, and search for "IP Address".
