iPhone not working on 5G SSID
I’ll apologize upfront for not having enough info prior to the behavior I’ve been noticing recently.
I recently upgraded to Gig internet, therefore upgraded my modem to allow the throughout. I purchased an Arris SB8200. I got that setup last night and my speeds were where expected.
Today I have been having issues with my iPhone getting out to the internet. When connected to the 5G channel, upon initial connection, I cannot get out. After several minutes, it is eventually able to get out. When either I turn the WiFi off or the phone sits long enough and then I either turn the WiFi back on or “wake” the phone up, it goes through the same latency behavior when trying to access a website.
When I switch off of the 5G channel, it works fine. I also upgraded my firmware on my router today but I believe (with 60% certainty) that this was done as a last resort troubleshooting option.
I have power cycled my networking devices 3 times today and am at a loss of what it could be. I am also unsure as to whether I am usually connected to the 2.4Ghz channel and this issue may have always been there on the 5Ghz channel.
Happy to provide any other info, just curious if anyone else has dealt with similar.
Thanks!

- New update, it was the firmware. I did not realize .88 had so many issues, come on, Netgear!

- marcachusettsAspirantUpdate: upon further testing, the 2.4Ghz channel DOES show the same behavior.
I checked my wife’s iPhone and hers connects fine. Really at a loss here. I’ve reset network settings on phone, reset all settings and I’m next going to back up, wipe and restore to see if that helps.- marcachusettsAspirantUpdate, looks like a hard reset vs soft reset on the phone did the trick. Ugh, so much troubleshooting just to come to that.
