    The R8500 lets the user disable either of the two 5G bands.   The 5G-1 radio is limited to the lower 5G channel range, the 5G-2 radio is limited to the upper channels.

The Astro wifi base does not have the option of manually selecting the channels from the 5Ghz band. Its on auto select.
It would be cool if I could either disable the second 5Ghz band from R8000 or set the 5Ghz1 to 44 and 5Ghz2 to 48, but I can't - is there a reason for that?
