Is Nighthawk 7800 worht the upgrade
Hi, I am new to this and would like some advice please. I am currently using an R6250 router, which I'm reasonably happy with (apart from download speeds seem to have dropped recently, still getting about 37mps so not to worried). However I would like to strengthen the signal to another room for smoother streaming. Additionally I have approxamately 12 different peices of equipment using the wifi signal (spread evenly between 2.4 & 5ghz). I was wondering if an upgrade to an Nighthawk AC2600 X4S R7800, might achieve a stronger signal plus would it also help with managing all of my networked attached equipment? The alternative would be to purchase an extender, would the EX7300 be a good match to my R6250 or would it be overkill. many thanks for any help/advice.
Tony
The R7800 is well worth the upgrade.
Also supports some 3rd party FW like Voxels NetGear R7800 FW. Same UI, better managed back end packages. IT works great with my EX7500 extender.

Greetings,
From a performance / upgrade perspective, the R7800 will perform much better than your R6250 in both signal strength and bandwidth. How much of a performance increase will depend on the devices you are using it with, but broadcast signal strength will be noticeable for sure because of the design difference between the two routers.
I'd do it because the technology differences between the two standards justifies the expense. The R7800 more than doubles the bandwidth on both 2.5 and 5Ghz bands over the R6250.
