Looking at Wi-Fi systems for new house
A few years ago I purchased the Netgear Nighthawk X6S AC4000 router. This router should easily cover the square footage of our new house (1,800 sq/ft ranch). However, I would like to add a mesh system onto this router so that I can guarantee coverage of the entire house.
Is there a way I can add on 2 mesh extenders to the current router and maintain speeds for wifi across the entire house? I also plan to wire Cat6 throughout the house for all stationary systems. Just want to maintain high WiFi speeds for laptops, phones, tv, etc.
Any information helps!
In addition to the Router, I also purchased an Arris Surfboard SB2800 DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem. Do you think this will be a good modem to have moving forward with this plan? Our ISP will support up to 1Gb speeds.

Which one? X6S AC4000 is not a unique Netgear model number. Many devices come with the AC/AX tag, but it is essentially a label that Netgear, and others, attach to hardware to describe wifi speeds.
Look at the label on the device for the Model Number. And, if there is one, include the "V" bit to show the hardware version. If there is no V number, then you have V1.
R8000P?
However, I would like to add a mesh system onto this router so that I can guarantee coverage of the entire house. If you do have the R8000P then it was launched seven years ago and predates things like Mesh. It may be time to replace it with something newer.
Do you really need Mesh? That is for locations where a single wifi source cannot provide coverage for the whole area.
You can't just add Mesh to an existing router that was not designed for that technology. It requires a system where the router can communicate with the various satellites.
Try plugging your needs into the filters on the product pages:

Then check back here for reports on the things you are considering, but remember that people turn up in this community with problems, not compliments. So look at reviews on Amazon, for example.
Just want to maintain high WiFi speeds for laptops, phones, tv, etc.A new router may little difference to those. The wifi clients and their technology are usually the limiting factor in wifi speeds.
