Management VLAN id changes when connecting to the cloud
I have notice a bug and an annoyance with the firmware for cloud managed network access points if you want to change the vlan id of the management interface.
First off it is very annoying that you can't change the vlan ID of the management port whilst it is managed by the cloud from the local web interface, nor do you have any options from the Insight app, who's great idea was that! So first off you need to set it to locally manged then you can change the id.
So the bug I noticed, Today I changed the VLAN id, from the default 1 to 97, and changed the port on my switch accordingly, the device was pinging ok. I rebooted the device and it was still ok showing the correct management vlan id as 97. I then changed the AP back to cloud managed and the device reboots (2 or 3 times). During the reboots I had a ping going and they were all fine, then it just stops responding with request timed out. At some point during reading to the the cloud the reconfiguration of the the AP, it resets the vlan to 1!
When you get issues like this, its almost and bugs like this it almost makes you think those writing the software have never actually work in IT/Networks before....

- microchip8Master... now you just have to tell us which router model and firmware version you're using. Forgot one of the most important things?
VLANs on NETGEAR WiFi consumer routers is not what you think it is. It is only there for very specific setups (as may be required by some ISPs) and it not a full-blown VLAN setting, meaning you can't do whatever you can do with real VLAN on other equipment.
